LK Group
LK Group's office redesign project spans three floors of a 1970s building overlooking Albert Park in Melbourne. This dynamic interior showcases natural materials and rich textures, creating a space where invisible borders foster collaboration between diverse companies under one holding group. The design balances preserving individual company cultures with facilitating cross-company interaction, all while achieving a high-end, New York-inspired aesthetic.

The Brief
Our task was to redefine the shared space for LK Group, an Australian holding company housing multiple diverse businesses. The challenge lay in creating a practical office environment that maintained each company's unique culture while encouraging collaboration across teams separated by floors. The client desired a high-end, New York-inspired ambiance that would reflect their corporate identity and accommodate future growth and changes in group dynamics.
The Approach
We adopted a strategy of "flexible unity" to address the project's complex requirements. By exposing the original 1972architecture and incorporating natural materials and rich tones, we created a cohesive yet adaptable environment. We designed a flexible floor plate that could be easily modified to suit evolving company needs. Invisible borders were established through clever use of space and materials, encouraging collaboration while still delineating individual company areas. Sustainability was prioritised through the use of environmentally friendly materials, intelligent lighting, and efficient zoning.
The Outcome
The redesigned LK Group office stands as a testament to sophisticated corporate interior design. Each floor showcases a thoughtful balance of shared and company-specific spaces, with exposed concrete ceilings, timber flooring, and custom joinery creating a unified aesthetic. Glass partitions between offices maximize views and natural light, while abstract landscape images and live plants add visual interest and comfort. Communal areas, including a staff breakout space with communal benches, foster inter-company mingling. The result is a dynamic, New York-inspired workspace that not only meets the functional needs of the diverse LK Group companies but also embodies their collective corporate culture - unified yet flexible, professional yet creative.
