The Brief

Our clients, passionate custodians of Australia's architectural heritage, approached us with a vision to breathe new life into Glynt Manor while preserving its historical integrity. The brief was to restore this Tudor gem to its former glory, seamlessly integrating modern comforts without compromising its authentic character. They sought a delicate balance -a home that would honour its rich past while catering to contemporary living standards. The challenge lay in creating spaces that felt both timeless and relevant, preserving the manor's storied atmosphere while ensuring it met the needs of a 21st-century family who appreciated the finer points of heritage design.

The Approach

Our restoration strategy centred on what we termed "heritage harmony" - a meticulous process of preservation, restoration, and subtle modernization. We began with extensive historical research, collaborating with local heritage experts to understand the manor's architectural evolution. This informed our approach to restoring key elements like the exposed timber beams and central fireplace. We sourced period-appropriate materials and enlisted the expertise of traditional craftsmen to ensure authenticity in every detail. However, we were not bound by rigid historicism. Where appropriate, we introduced modern elements that complemented the Tudor aesthetic, such as state-of-the-art kitchen appliances concealed behind bespoke cabinetry and contemporary lighting solutions that enhanced the home's atmospheric quality without detracting from its period features.

The Outcome

Glynt Manor stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of Tudor architecture, thoughtfully adapted for modern living. Upon entering, one is immediately transported to a bygone era of refinement and craftsmanship. The great hall, with its vaulted ceiling crisscrossed by restored timber beams, sets a tone of understated grandeur. The central fireplace, once again the heart of the home, invites gatherings with its warm embrace. Outside, the restored gardens provide a seamless transition between the historic home and its natural surroundings, completing the vision of Glynt Manor as a privileged retreat that honours the past while embracing the present.
